Forest Park star Lexi Gussert will take her talents to East Lansing to be a Spartan at Michigan State

July 18, 2013

Good news coming from the Upper Peninsula today. 2014 Senior Lexi Gussert from Forest Park has announced that she will be attending Michigan State University and letter in basketball.

lex lexi gus… I am a huge fan of Lexi Gussert as a person and as a basketball player. Whenever I watched her play this past season she was very unselfish, scored at will, and was the best teammate on the floor. I am so proud of her decision and I am very happy that she is staying in Michigan to play for the Spartans so she can always display that UP pride in East Lansing. The best part about the announcement is that she can have a great senior year at Forest Park and her family can live in peace and happiness. Sometimes student-athletes get bogged down with their big decision during the season and it becomes a distraction and can affect their game. I am glad she took the high road and got the decision out of the way before the start of the basketball season. I know she will do big things for head coach Suzy Merchant when she gets to campus in 2014 because she is a winner and will do anything to be successful. Now the goal for this high school senior is to bring a state title back to Crystal Falls and to become Mrs. Basketball in the state of Michigan. I am so excited for Lexi and I can’t wait to watch her play college ball in the future. She is turning into a Spartan after being a Trojan for the past four years…

Fordham’s Freshman Guard Jeffrey Short out for first 5 games with knee injury

October 25, 2011

Via Facebook:

smh i have some bad news .. this FRIDAY im getting surgery on my RIGHT KNEE so i will be sitting out for 4 to 5 games. so i will not be playing in that syracuse game.. i will be out for a month.. im stress feel like crying word

This is bad news for the Rams as Short will be a huge help in the scoring department this season. He could have potentially been a starter or key reserve behind Alberto Estwick. Now he will need to get stronger and better for games against St. John’s and company. I hope he doesn’t turn out like Lance Brown who hurt himself too before playing in a Rams uniform. I wish this kid the best of luck in his recovery and hope he gets healthy soon.  Fordham needs scorers now…

Tim Lincecum starts a brand new contest

August 9, 2011

One fortunate fan will get a chance to take swings off Tim Lincecumnext spring.

The Giants ace is challenging fans to a video competition in which they are asked to duplicate his unorthodox delivery on video for an opportunity to hit — or strike out, for that matter — against the two-time NL Cy Young Award winner at spring training next year.

The entry period for fans to submit their best version of the right-hander’s pitching motion began Tuesday and goes through Sept. 16. They can go to

Lincecum says the “Red Bull Ultimate” competition will be judged in multiple rounds based on creativity, originality, performance and skill level, and demonstrated passion for the sport and Lincecum.

Entries are limited to one per person.

Lincecum, the shaggy haired four-time All-Star, is 10-9 with a 2.69 ERA and 165 strikeouts this season for the reigning World Series champions.

This is a pretty cool idea by the Cy Young award winner. To set up a contest to try to get the best impersonation is genius and to be able to get an at-bat against him is even more genius! I think this is a ton of fun for the fans and more players need to do this. I’m not gonna lie, I think I am going to try to enter a video to see if I win because you might not want to ever miss out on an opportunity to face one of the best…

Fordham Rams Basketball Update

August 2, 2010

Fordham Rams basketball news is usually silent for the summer but here is an update from the star for next year’s team Chris Gaston via facebook:

Had 40 points todayy put my team on my back and got the dubb !! Going to jersey wass poppin for tonight ?

this is really good to hear from the young star and Atlantic 10 rookie of the year last season. It shows his workouts are paying off and he really wants to win in the Atlantic 10 and for Fordham. I am really proud of him and I think he is going to accomplish so many milestones in the Bronx. This is just one step and he is moving in the right direction for a young squad. I’m already geared up for a big year…
